Peterborough United linked with move for Bolton Wanderers’ former Leeds United and Crewe midfielder

A reported by the Peterborough Telegraph, Peterborough United have been linked with a move for Bolton Wanderers midfielder Luke Murphy, who could made a move away from the League One club this summer.

Peterborough United co-owner and chairman Darragh MacAnthony has made no secret of the fact that the club are hotly pursuing a deal for a new central midfielder ahead of the new season, with manager Darren Ferguson keen to add more Championship quality to his midfield.

And, the club could look to take advantage of the situation at fellow League One side Bolton Wanderers to snap up midfielder Luke Murphy. Murphy, 29, will be allowed to tear up his contract at the University of Bolton Stadium if he provides 14 days notice to the club.

Murphy has amassed plenty of Football League experience over the course of his career and looks like he could be one of the many Bolton players to make a move away from the club this summer.

The midfielder started his career at Crewe Alexandra, making his way into the club’s first-team after coming through the club’s academy. He went on to play 185 times for the Alex, scoring 25 goals and providing 25 assists along the way, before making a £1 million move to Leeds United in 2013.

During his time at Leeds. Murphy made 111 appearances for the Elland Road club, netting on seven occasions and laying on six assists. He spent a season and a half on loan with Burton Albion from January 2017 to May 2018, leaving the club for Bolton Wanderers a matter of months later.

Now, after just one season and 11 appearances for Bolton, Murphy could be making a move away from the club with the Posh reportedly ready to bring him to London Road.
