Hull City have taken goalkeeper Stefan Marinovic on a week-long trial, as per a report by Hull Live.
The 27-year-old started training alongside David Marshall and George Long on Monday and will see out the rest of the week up until the Tigers’ home fixture against Sheffield Wednesday this Saturday.
Marinovic, who is a New Zealand international with 24 caps to his name, is looking for a new permanent home after leaving Major League Soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps last month.
Hull currently have two first-team goalkeepers, Marshall and Long, as well as two highly-rated youngsters Callum Burton and Will Mannion out on loan at Chesterfield and Aldershot Town respectively. Therefore, it is surprising to see them linked with a goalkeeper.
Marshall is out of contract at the end of the season so perhaps Nigel Adkins is taking a look at Marinovic to weigh up whether to sign him in preparation for if he leaves.
Marinovic started his career in New Zealand with Waitakere United before he moved to Germany to join third tier side SV Wehen Wiesbaden in 2009. He went onto have spells at FC Ismaning, 1860 Munich reserves and SpVgg Unterhaching before moving over to America in July 2017 to join Vancouver Whitecaps.
He played 32 times for the Whitecaps which took his tally of total appearances in his career so far to 160. It will be interesting to see if he can impress Hull City this week and earn himself a contract with the Championship side.
