Plymouth Argyle boss rules out loan deal for Wolves frontman

Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams has confirmed that he will not be making an approach to sign Plymouth-born striker Joe Mason on loan from English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers this month.

The 27-year-old frontman is out of favour at Molineux and looks highly unlikely to win back his place in the side with the club performing well in the top flight this season.

Mason has been loaned out to Plymouth Argyle’s Sky Bet League One rivals Burton Albion and Portsmouth during the last 18 months while the player has also spent time in Major League Soccer with Colorado Rapids.

With Mason having started his career with hometown club Plymouth Argyle, there have been suggestions that the striker could return to the club on loan, however, The Pilgrims boss Adams has ruled out a move for the player claiming that Argyle would be priced out of a deal according to Plymouth Live.

Mason bagged 10 goals in 55 appearances for Argyle before joining Cardiff City in a reported £250,000 deal in summer 2011. The player went on to make over a century of appearances for The Bluebirds before signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with current club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The striker initially featured regularly for Wolves, however, Mason soon fell out of favour at Molineux and his days at the club now look to be numbers.

Wolves are expected to again move Mason out during this month’s transfer window whether that be on loan or on a permanent deal but the player will not be returning to Home Park at this point in his career.
